David's Drums

Every new drum goes through a break-in period when the skin stretches and settles in to it's new purpose. The drums I make are very tight when I send them into the world, and I will tighten them for life (my life). However, if you can not get the drum to me for tightening, you can use the extra cord wrapped beneath the handle to pull diamonds.

Pulling Diamonds

Picture

Pass the rope under the next two verticals. (1-2)

Pass the rope over the second and back under the first.

Pass the rope over 1-2 and under the next two verticals. Pull to flip verticals.

Pulling the rope under the next two verticals locks the diamond in place and also completes the first half of the next diamond. Keep the row even and straight.

Continue pulling diamonds testing the drum for sound. I listen for a full bass with a rich tone and crisp slap.
It is not necessary to go completely around the drum body. Tie off the end of the cord when the drum sounds pleasing to you.  Re-wrap the extra cord and tuck the end.
